As the fallout continues to develop from the FBI gambling probe that led to the arrests of Miami Heat veteran Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups, there's a name that's popped up on Friday who may be familiar to NBA fans and beyond: Kevin Garnett.
Not that he was involved in the allegations that led to those arrests. Per Pablo Torre, "A number of former pro athletes played at private poker games organized" by the people in the indictments. One them that he named? That would be Garnett.
This raises a lot of questions. Garnett, as of publishing this, hasn't spoken out about Torre's report. But did that mean that KG was one of the people who lost money in the games that were allegedly rigged? We don't have an answer for that or anything surrounded Garnett in this context.
Here's what Torre posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday:
Is that why people are posting Kevin Garnett Uncut Gems references?
Yes. In the movie starring Garnett as himself, the basketball superstar plays well after getting a rare opal from Adam Sandler's character, who wins money on a KG bet.
We'll see if this is all true and what exactly happened here.
