Craig Alexander wanted a really long corridor to shoot the hospital scenes for his film about a pair of hapless body snatchers.
He also needed an abandoned warehouse with a good bleak alleyway, a beautiful young woman, and a dance sequence featuring people wearing scrubs.
Stick with me here, because he pulled off all of these things, and all for a film that, based on its synopsis, has no right to work so well.
Snatchers , proudly made in Canberra by a largely Canberra-based cast and crew, starts in a rundown hospital somewhere in the near, dystopian, late-stage capitalist future.
Underpaid orderlies Mac (Alexander) and Fettes (Justin Hosking) are just scraping by, wheeling bloodstained patients on dirty trollies up and down the aforementioned long corridor - complete with bloody smear
