WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. —

A 13-year-old student was removed from a northern Kentucky school's campus after a gun was found Friday.

According to Williamstown Independent Superintendent John Slone, staff received a report that a student might have a weapon on campus. Advertisement

The district immediately placed on lockdown while a search was conducted. The district confirmed a gun was found outside of the main school building, law enforcement was called and the student was removed from campus.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office said the teenager was taken to the juvenile detention center. The seventh grade student is expected in court early next week.
