The preliminary investigation into a fire that damaged 3Circle Midtown Church in Mobile concluded the cause was likely an electrical issue in the sanctuary, police say.

Mobile Fire Rescue battled the fire in the early morning hours on Thursday. The department arrived on the scene on South Sage Avenue to find smoke and flames billowing from the church.

The two-alarm fire blazed for an hour before firefighters brought it under control.

No one was injured, but the church's sanctuary sustained extensive damage.
