WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky.(WXIX) - The Williamstown Independent School District was placed in a lockdown Friday morning following reports of a student with a weapon, district officials said.

According to a release from Superintendent John Slone, a report was received at about 11 a.m. of a student with a weapon on campus.

The district was locked down as a search was conducted, which confirmed a threat, and law enforcement was contacted.

The student was removed from campus.

Slone said that there is no ongoing threat to the school community, but the investigation is ongoing.
