Alexandria, VA — Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. this Sunday to help thousands of runners and spectators get to the start of the 50th Marine Corps Marathon, one of the D.C. region’s signature events. Trains will run frequently throughout the day, making Metro the easiest way to travel and avoid traffic and road closures.
Last year, Metro carried more than 70,000 trips for the marathon—its third-busiest Sunday since 2019.
Race Day Travel Tips:
Runners: Take Metro to Pentagon or Pentagon City for access to the Runners Village and start line. (Only runners will be allowed at the start and finish this year.)
Spectators: Best viewing spots are near Smithsonian, Crystal City, L’Enfant Plaza, and Arlington Cemetery (opens at 9 a.m.).
Packet Pick-Up: Use Eisenhower Ave Station for free shuttles
