SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The North Louisiana Civil Rights Coalition will host its first-ever Legends Gala on November 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. inside the Shreveport Convention Center, honoring five trailblazers whose courage helped shape local history.
The gala will recognize Dr. Harry Blake, Dr. E. Edward Jones, Mamie Love Wallace, Dr. C.C. McLain, and Rev. H. Calvin Austin for their lifelong fight for justice, equality, and faith-driven leadership.
According to a news release, proceeds will go toward restoring the historic Old Galilee Baptist Church, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his first speech in Shreveport — a site set to become North Louisiana’s first Civil Rights Museum.
