CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio is heading into its chilliest weekend of the season so far — and it could bring multiple chances for frost and even the region’s first freezing temperatures.

After lingering lake-effect showers fade Friday , skies will gradually clear and winds will calm under building high pressure. That setup will allow temperatures to tumble across much of the region Friday night into Saturday morning, with the coldest inland valleys likely dipping near or below freezing.

Frost advisories and freeze warnings are likely for inland counties west and south of Cleveland, including Medina, Lorain, Ashland and Wayne, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland .
