REDDING, Calif. - The Redding City Council convened a special meeting to address budget decisions that have resulted in a financial deficit. This meeting followed concerns raised by Council Member Tenessa Audette about the city's declining financial reserves and recent pay raises.

Audette questioned the council's awareness of the financial situation. City Treasurer and Finance Director Greg Robinette explained that pandemic-related sales tax revenues fell short of projections starting in 2022. He confirmed this information was shared with the council at the time. He said the problem cascaded when the tax revenues failed to reach projections in 2024.
