LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - For one Louisville couple, Paris is not a new destination, but they definitely had a new experience when they happened to be at the Louvre museum when a shocking heist happened.

“You think it’s kind of a joke, right? Like, surely, no one’s just had a heist in the Louvre, right? I mean, that’s kind of crazy,” said Sherry Moak.

Moak tells WAVE she and her husband, Jim, just spent two weeks in Paris. October 19th was their last full day, so Sherry booked them a private tour of the Louvre, and they planned to walk around the museum afterward. Little did they know that wouldn’t happen.

“We were down there waiting to get in,” said Moak. “They had these huge gates to enter the museum, and they were closed. Our tour guide didn’t know why they were closed.”
