Local civil rights advocates say they’ve confirmed that immigration officials detained as many as seven people last week in Clark County as federal agents step up enforcement.
The Southwest Washington chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens posted on its social media pages that it confirmed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained three people on Wednesday and on Tuesday and one person on Sunday.
“We are receiving a high number of calls and messages,” the organization said in a Wednesday post. “Our first priority is to locate that person, see if they need help with a vehicle or emergency funds, connect with local organizations, get legal help, and support the family financially. This all takes time but it’s our priority.”
