A young doctor from Maharashtra’s Satara district, who died by suicide after accusing two police officers for sexual assault and mental harassment, was forced to prepare false medical reports, her cousin alleged.
The doctor, who was posted at Phaltan Sub-District Hospital, ended her life late on Thursday night , and her death sparked a massive political storm in the state. She alleged in a suicide note that she was sexually assaulted and mentally harassed by two police officers for weeks before her death.
The suicide note, found written on the doctor’s hand, names a police inspector, Gopal Badne, accusing him of raping her multiple times. It also mentions another officer, Prashant Bankar, alleging that he mentally harassed her. Badne was suspended on the orders of Maharashtra Chief Min
