WEST SPRINGFIELD ― Mittineague Park’s east entrance — a hub of community recreation for nearly a century — is set for a major facelift thanks to a $425,000 state grant, Mayor William Reichelt said in a statement Thursday.
The PARC or Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities grant will help pay for long-awaited upgrades to about 10 acres and will include new Americans With Disabilities Act-compliant playgrounds, a splash pad, better parking and walkways, improved stormwater systems and shaded seating areas, Reichelt said.
