MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Madera High School celebrated homecoming with a parade looking back through history, while celebrating the legacy of a man whose influence has been felt in Madera for generations.

Former Security Lead at Madera High, Eddie Murphy, celebrated his retirement after 40 years at the school, riding as the grand marshal during the Homecoming Parade.

"I was nervous. I'm not one to like the spotlight. I like to stand in the background and observe," Murphy said. "But it's been great, and I loved every minute of it."

Murphy joined the Madera High security staff after working part-time at Central High School in Fresno. From the start, Murphy brought with him a charismatic charm and patience for students that led to connections that changed students' lives.
