FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Local charities providing food to those in need are experiencing record demand.

With uncertainty surrounding SNAP funding and new requirements set to begin next month, non-profits are bracing for that demand to skyrocket even further.

Over the last couple of weeks, the line for the drive-thru food pantry at New Beginnings Community Baptist Church has been growing longer and longer. Every Friday, the church hands out food from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but this Friday, the line grew longer than usual, reaching nearly two miles.

"We decided to come over here, and we're literally going to all the churches and everywhere to get food," said Loraine Dominic Rodriguez Soto.
