IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The government shutdown has lasted around three and a half weeks with neither Republicans nor Democrats budging in their positions.

While Democrats and Republicans can’t seem to agree on much, they both oppose a government shutdown. The problem is, both sides are playing the blame game.

At Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ fifth annual tailgate rally, the government shutdown was a main focus and her blame lands squarely in one camp.

“I don’t like Democrats shutting down the government over something that they could not get done when they had the house, the senate, and the white house,” Miller-Meeks said.

The current government shutdown is already the second longest in history, but still no signs of compromise.
