An Indian nurse, Elipe Siva Nagu, has been sentenced to one year and two months in prison, along with two strokes of the cane, after pleading guilty to molesting a male visitor at Raffles Hospital in Singapore. The incident occurred on June 18, when the victim was visiting his grandfather, who was admitted to the hospital.
According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Eugene Phua, the victim entered a patient’s toilet around 7:30 p.m. During this time, Elipe looked inside and, under the pretext of wanting to "disinfect" the victim, he applied soap to his hand and molested him. The victim was reportedly shocked and did not react immediately. After the incident, he returned to his grandfather's bedside.
The case was reported to authorities on June 21, and Elipe was arrested two days later. Following the incident, he was suspended from his nursing duties. The court heard that the victim experienced flashbacks of the incident, highlighting the emotional impact of the crime. Details about the victim, including his age, were not disclosed in court documents. The sentencing took place on Friday, marking a significant legal outcome for the case.
