COLUMBIA, SC – No. 2/2 South Carolina women’s basketball was solid Friday night, defeating the Anderson Trojans 112-31 in an exhibition matchup at Colonial Life Arena.
The Gamecocks built early momentum in the first quarter with a 9-0 run, and all five starters found the scoreboard, with at least 3 points each.
South Carolina’s defense held the Trojans to just two points in the second quarter, keeping strong control of the game into halftime.
Freshman forward Joyce Edwards led the way with 27 points in her debut, with 10 coming in the second quarter. Senior center Madina Okot posted a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
The Gamecocks out-rebounded the Trojans 61-28, including 19 on the offensive end.
