Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday inaugurated the new Central GST (CGST) Bhawan, setting the tone for the next phase of taxpayer-centric GST reforms. Emphasizing the need for trust-based administration and institutional accountability, Sitharaman said the upcoming Next Generation GST Reforms must make a perceptible difference to how taxpayers experience the system.

“Next generation GST Reforms must feel different to the taxpayer. They should feel that they are honorably treated, as they are the taxpayers to the nation. If there are people who are bad sheep among taxpayers, follow the protocol to catch hold of them. But don't look at everybody with suspicion,” Sitharaman said.
