SURPRISE, Ariz. — Newly released body camera video shows the moment a Trump supporter was thrown to the ground by a Surprise police officer during a traffic stop in February 2025 — an encounter the woman now calls “a brutal assault.”
Camelia Gocan, a Surprise resident, was convicted Thursday on multiple misdemeanor charges, including obstructing traffic and failing to obey a police officer’s commands. A city judge sentenced her to six months of unsupervised probation.
The case stems from a February 17 incident captured on city traffic and police cameras. Protesters had lined a Surprise intersection that day, opposing President Donald Trump.
