S aints Crispin and Crispinian were brothers who devoted their lives to spreading the Christian faith in Gaul during the mid-third century. Based in Soissons, they spent their days preaching the Gospel in the streets and their nights earning a living as shoemakers. Their humility, generosity, and disregard for worldly possessions deeply impressed the people around them, leading many to embrace Christianity.

When persecution arose, the brothers refused to renounce their faith despite severe threats. Their steadfast courage ultimately led to their martyrdom both were beheaded in Rome around the year 286 A.D.

Saints Crispin and Crispinian are honored as the patron saints of cobblers, glove makers, lace makers, leather workers, saddle makers, shoemakers, tanners, and weavers. In recognition
