SEATAC, Wash. — Travelers are still feeling the ripple effects from Thursday's Alaska Airlines ground stop , as the airline works to resolve issues from a system-wide IT outage that canceled more than 400 flights and disrupted travel plans for more than 49,000 passengers.
In a Friday update, Alaska Airlines acknowledged that "this level of performance is not acceptable" and apologized to all affected travelers.
The outage marks the second time in recent months that Alaska has been hit with major IT failures — the first occurred in July. After the initial data center failure, the airline said it had stabilized its systems, but Thursday's outage revealed more work remains to be done.
Alaska said it is bringing in outside tech experts to ensure its entire IT network is as resilient as it
