Srinagar, Oct 25: A police constable was hospitalized Saturday on after sustaining a gunshot injury from his service weapon at Jammu Railway Station.
An official said the injured policeman has been identified as Selection Grade Constable (SgCt) Shokat Ahmed, Belt No. 256/GRP J, aged 37, a resident of Anantnag and currently posted with GRP Jammu.
The constable sustained injuries from his service AK-47 rifle while on duty at Morcha No. 4 of the railway station. He was immediately shifted to GMC Jammu for medical treatment, official said.
Senior officers have reached the spot, and an inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances leading to the incident, official said. (KNC)
