A key Maoist operative suspected to be behind the recent IED blast on a railway track between Kokrajhar and Salakati was killed in an encounter with Assam Police early Saturday morning, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kokrajhar, Pushpraj Singh, said.
“Last night we got information about the presence of an armed group with sophisticated weapons in Nadangiri Hills in Kokrajhar district,” SP Singh told reporters. “They were hiding there and were planning to carry out something big.
