Struggling San Francisco solar startup Aurora Solar has shed more staff and named a new CEO.

Company representatives confirmed the cuts but declined to say how many people Aurora let go. In an email, company co-founder and outgoing CEO Chris Hopper blamed the layoffs on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed this past summer.

That law ends federal tax credits for new residential solar-panel and home-battery systems at the end of this year and phases out such incentives for commercial solar projects. Aurora offers software that helps installers design and sell solar systems.
