President Donald Trump says he will make San Francisco great again, portraying a dystopian present that doesn’t exist and romanticizing a utopian past that never was.

The president speaks nostalgically of a time — 15 years ago, to be exact — when San Francisco “was the best city in the country,” before “woke” politics rendered it disgusting and unlivable, a city that’s “gone to hell.”

The situation has deteriorated so badly, in Trump’s mind, that he was prepared to send federal agents in this weekend to take matters into their own hands, before several San Franciscans who speak his language — money — stepped in and persuaded him to hit pause.
