A developer is hoping to build 221 new homes near an Oakville neighbourhood.

During a planning and development council meeting Oct. 20, the Argo Oakville Woods Corporation presented a plan that would see 86 back-to-back townhouses, 21 rear lane townhouses, 102 street townhouses, 12 single detached homes, and one village square at 210 Burnhamthorpe Rd. E .

The 7.26-hectare site is located on the south side of Burnhamthorpe Road East, between Sixth Line and Trafalgar Road, and is currently vacant.

A 1.08-hectare woodlot at the southern part of the property would be preserved as part of Oakville’s Natural Heritage System and the developer said there are plans to create a trail there.
