DUBUQUE, Iowa — Dubuque Police responded to a report of gunfire near East 17th and Jackson Streets on Friday morning. Officers say Kareem Sehwail, 18, was involved in a disturbance with two others in a nearby alley just before 10 am. Investigators say during the altercation, a juvenile male fired a handgun at Sehwail, missing him but hitting a car. Police say traffic cameras captured the suspects fleeing as Sehwail ran to Jackson Street. The suspects were later apprehended in East Dubuque with help from Wisconsin and Illinois authorities. The juvenile male was charged with attempted murder, a class B felony. The investigation is ongoing, and the Dubuque Police Department says more charges may be filed.
