The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday, October 25, issued a detailed weather alert predicting widespread rainfall and thunderstorms in several parts of the country.
According to the Met Office, a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area on Friday. The weather system is predicted to move west-north-westwards and strengthen into a depression by October 25, a deep depression by October 26, and a cyclonic storm over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal by the morning of October 27.
A fresh Western Disturbance is also set to affect the Western Himalayan Region starting October 27.
