Former Alabama player and assistant coach Jeremy Pruitt is seeking a court order against the NCAA so that he can return to a college sideline, according to documents filed in DeKalb County Circuit Court this month and obtained by AL.com.

The 51-year-old Pruitt was given a six-year show cause order by the NCAA in 2023 following alleged violations committed while head coach at Tennessee. The show cause effectively prevents him from working for a college athletic program until 2029.

Pruitt’s attorneys filed a motion in DeKalb County Oct. 17, seeking a preliminary injunction against the NCAA for “interfering with employment opportunities.” The court filing says Pruitt has been “effectively black-balled” from working in college athletics for the last five years and characterized the NCAA’s
