Saturday marked the first day of early voting in the city, and New Yorkers across the five boroughs cast their ballots for mayor, comptroller and public advocate, among other races.
Polls are open every day until Sunday, Nov. 2, then reopen for Election Day on Nov. 4. Find a full schedule here.
For the June primary, more than 34% of New Yorkers voted early in-person. Almost 4% voted early by mail and nearly 57% voted in person on Election Day.
“When we try and stuff all of the people who want to vote into 16 hours on Election Day, it creates long lines. And if there is any unexpected problem with the equipment or the ballot, there’s no time to fix it. But if a problem arises during early voting, well you can come back another day,“ said Susan Lerner, executive director of Common Cause,
