TODD COUNTY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Authorities in Todd County are investigating after a two-vehicle crash on early Friday morning left two people dead and another with life-threatening injuries.

Early crash information indicates that the driver of a 2023 Kenworth T680 was traveling north on US Highway 83 near mile marker 29, about seven miles north of Mission.

At the same time, the driver of a Ford F250 was traveling south and sideswiped the semi.

The Ford came to rest in the southbound ditch, and the semi caught fire after the collision, with the cab separating from the chassis and rolling into the northbound ditch.

Both occupants of the semi, a 73-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man, both from Laurel, Delaware, died at the scene.
