In a shocking incident, a knife-wielding phone snatcher attacked the deputy commissioner of police (South East) of Hyderabad, S Chaitnya Kumar, at Chaderghat, but was injured when the police team fired on him.

The incident occurred near Victory Playground at Chaderghat while the IPS officer was returning to his office after a meeting with the commissioner of police, VC Sajjanar. On the way, they noticed a phone snatcher being chased by a person.

The DCP and his personal security officer joined the chase and when they had cornered him, he whipped out a knife. Meanwhile, the gunman lost his footing and fell and the DCP fired three rounds. Although the phone snatcher was injured, he ran away from the spot and entered a residential building.
