The Canadiens’ Patrik Laine and his wife have both expressed how much they love Montreal and would love to stay here beyond this season.
Don’t expect that to happen now.
The Canadiens announced Saturday that Laine will be sidelined for 3-4 months after having surgery to repair a core muscle injury. The surgery was performed by Dr. Mark Zoland at the Lennox Hill Hospital in New York.
Laine missed the last four games with what the Canadiens said was a lower-body injury, adding he was day-to-day. It was then reported Laine went for a second medical opinion on his injury and he did not join his teammates on a four-game Western road trip that started Wednesday night with a 2-1 overtime win over the Flames in Calgary.
