CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Nearly six years after Scott Brooks, the co-owner of the Brooks’ Sandwich House, was murdered, the two men charged in the case will go to trial this week.
Steven Staples and Terry Connor Jr. were both charged with Brooks’ murder and face charges for several other violent crimes. Connor and Staples both pleaded not guilty in this case.
Their trial begins on Monday, Oct. 27.
Brooks’ murder
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Brooks was shot and killed on Dec. 9, 2019, when he was opening the restaurant for the day. Police say it was a robbery, and the suspects got away with $100.
At the time, police said the business was targeted because it dealt with cash.
