Kyrene Elementary School District announced this week that Marianne Lescher from Kyrene Traditional Academy was named Arizona’s 2025 National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

The award recognizes pre-K through eighth-grade leaders from across the country every year in Washington, D.C. The program was established in 1984 to honor public school officials to be nominated by their peers for instruction, management and leadership excellence.

“Every chapter of my career has reinforced my passion for creating schools where students love to learn and teachers love to teach,” said Lescher in a statement.

Kyrene Traditional Academy is a Pre-K through eighth-grade school and Lescher has been the principal for more than 13 years. Under her leaders
