Principals in Ohio will vote next month on a referendum that could clear the way for name, image and likeness agreements for high school athletes in the state, after a lawsuit by a standout wide receiver forced the issue.
The vote — which will take place Nov. 17-21 — was moved up six months after Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Jaiza Page issued a temporary restraining order on Monday in a lawsuit filed by the mother of one of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2026.
The order allowed all students who are part of the 818 schools in the Ohio High School Athletic Association to enter into their own NIL deals.
The OHSAA Board of Directors announced the revised voting schedule on Thursday. The vote was originally scheduled for May.
