When students at White Woods Public School in Sturgeon Falls set out to raise $4,500 for the 45 th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, the amount was ambitious. Little did they know they would far surpass that goal.

Erin Graham-Mitchell, a teacher at the school who helps organize the annual Terry Fox run, noted, “The community and school rallied together and raised this incredible amount. A very large amount for a small school of just over 300 students.”

When the grand total was announced this past Thursday, students had raised just over $12,000.

This year marked the 24th year the school has participated in the Terry Fox Run, and for 23 of those years, former White Woods teacher Kiley Moulton organized the event before Graham-Mitchell took the reins.
