Allan Edwards knows how to pick a good lemon.
He has been growing, harvesting and selling the bright yellow fruit since he was a boy, growing up on his family's citrus orchard in Victoria's Yarra Valley.
"My dad bought this property and planted these trees in 1950," he said.
"As a kid I spent hours, days, and months out here."
Allan runs the farm with the help of his son Michael, a keen grower with some innovative ideas.
Michael's latest project involves an unusual flower.
"I like to experiment, so alongside lemons I'm growing hazelnuts and other tree crops,"
he said.
"I know a few distillers who were interested in sourcing citrus blossoms, so this year we're picking the blossoms from our lemon trees."
Michael said it was a first for them and the distillers.
