The families of three people killed in a horror fire in central Queensland have spoken publicly for the first time since their loved ones were “suddenly and tragically taken”.

Jordana Johnson, 36, and her 12-year-old son Jordan Norris both died when the fire ripped through the family home on Whiting St in Toolooa, Gladstone, about 5.56am on Wednesday last week.

Jordan’s friend Chazz Mather, also 12, was visiting the home for a sleepover and also died in the blaze.

It took six fire crews two hours to bring the fire under control , in which time the top floor of the house collapsed, with neighbours describing waking to screams and a burning sound so loud it sounded
