A University of South Carolina suffered multiple serious injuries when hit by a train Saturday in Columbia.

A witness told the Columbia Police Department the male student was walking along the tracks at the 600 block of Blossom Street when he was hit.

He was being treated at a local hospital as of 7 p.m. Saturday. CSX is assisting Columbia police with the investigation.
