TUCSON, Ariz. — A man who allegedly shot into an occupied apartment before robbing a nearby Walmart with a gun was shot by Tucson police on Saturday, according to officials with the Tucson Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting just after 9:30 a.m. near Broadway Boulevard and Camino Seco. Officers on scene were told a man shot into an occupied apartment and then left the scene. No one in the apartment was injured, officials said.

While at that scene, officers got a 911 call about an armed robbery at a nearby Walmart. Officials said the description of the suspect matched that of the shooting suspect.

When officers arrived at the Walmart, they "pursued the suspect on foot and gave him verbal commands to drop the weapon; and an exchange of gunfire ensued," officials
