ATHENS, Ohio. (WSAZ) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a multicar crash that involved a marked Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) cruiser.

OHSP says the crash happened just before midnight on Saturday along US Route 50 near Hooper Road in Athens Township.

Police say the crash occurred after a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of US Route 50.

The driver of that vehicle then struck an OSHP Dodge Cruiser head on.

After impacting the cruiser, that driver’s vehicle then went on to hit a second car.

The driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Trooper was also taken to the hospital and released with minor injuries.

The driver of the other car that was hit was treated on scene with minor injuries.
