Lincoln, ND (KXNET) — Halloween is less than a week away, and in Lincoln, they were getting into the spirit early with a safer approach to trick or treating, all while bringing the community together.

Ghouls and goblins made their way to the parking lot at Lincoln Elementary for their annual Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, October 26.

The community came together offering a safe, controlled environment during the day to go trick or treating, where kids could stop at people's vehicles, cop cars, and even a skid-steer bucket to load their bags to the rim.

"It really is about the community," Said Melissa Hurt, the Principal at Lincoln Elementary. "It's about providing an opportunity for our fun event for the kids in our town, and just have fun together."
