India have reportedly been dealt a major blow ahead of their Women’s World Cup semi-final against Australia, with opener Pratika Rawal expected to miss the match due to an ankle injury. Rawal picked up the injury during the final league game against Bangladesh in Navi Mumbai, and that has prompted reports of the opener missing the knockout games, with the semi-final coming against arch-rivals Australia.
The incident occurred in the 21st over of Bangladesh’s innings when her foot appeared to twist awkwardly on the damp outfield while chasing a ball to the boundary. She immediately went down in pain and had to be helped off the field by teammates and medical staff. Although a stretcher was called for, Rawal chose to walk off with assistance.
