Puget Sound Energy utility crews took advantage of a break in the weather to restore power to thousands of customers, though some Auburn residents were told full restoration could take a couple of days.

The widespread outages were primarily caused by high winds and rain which softened the soil, leading to giant trees falling and bringing down power lines, some of which also blocked roads.

Affected residents, like one family in the Lake Morton area who lost food and relied on a fire for heat, are hoping for a quicker resolution than the six days they went without power last year.
