AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - A new study led by UMass Amherst researcher Jamie Hartmann-Boyce has reviewed the potential of oral nicotine pouches as a tool to quit smoking, marking the first Cochrane evidence-based review on this tobacco-free product.
The review, which is the first of its kind by Cochrane, found that while oral nicotine pouches reduce exposure to harmful substances compared to smoking, the evidence is not yet clear on their effectiveness in helping people quit smoking or vaping. The study analyzed four small studies, indicating a need for further research.
