Drug Peddler sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in Anantnag

In a significant development in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge NDPS, Anantnag, pronounced sentence against the accused Bashir Ahmad Bhat son of Gull Mohd Bhat resident of Waghama Bijbehara in case FIR No. 230/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Bijbehara.

After hearing both sides on the quantum of punishment and considering all relevant circumstances, the Hon’ble Court has sentenced the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,00,000 (one lakh rupees).

The case pertained to the recovery of 70 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the accused, who was intercepted while traveling in his vehicle (Alto 800, Registration No. JK18A-1097) at Sangam on 19/08/2021.
