A 24-year-old woman accused of intentionally crashing her car with her boyfriend inside is now facing an additional vehicular homicide charge, after he died in the hospital eight months after the crash.
Daniel Waterman, 22, was a passenger in Leigha Mumby’s car when it crashed into a tree in Flagler County on Super Bowl night in February.
After spending eight months in the hospital, Waterman’s family had hoped he was recovering, but he died unexpectedly after catching pneumonia.
Mumby, who was initially arrested in July, had previously been charged with reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and aggravated battery.
Amended court records show she is now also charged with vehicular homicide. She is currently out of jail after posting bond on her original charges.
