Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Monday, revealed that the state government is planning to rename Mustafabad village in Lakhimpur Kheri district as 'Kabirdham'.
During the 'Smriti Mahotsav Mela 2025', the chief minister said the name change is in line with such decisions by his government in the past to "restore" the names of places changed by erstwhile rulers.
According to the CM, the change of name will restore the area's historical and cultural identity linked with Sant Kabir.
He said he was surprised to learn that the village was named Mustafabad despite having no Muslim population.
